Examination services FAQs

Will my scheduled tests still hold as planned?

Following the directives of the Ugandan government and to protect the health of our test-takers throughout the nation,  all exams have been cancelled.

I am yet to be contacted; does it mean my test will still hold as previously scheduled?

If you’re yet to be contacted, kindly send an email to us at exams@britishcouncil.or.ug

Owing to coronavirus pandemic and shutting down of activities, I would like to know if IELTS exam would still hold in other centres that are not in Kampala.

Following the directives of the Ugandan government and to protect the health of our test-takers throughout the nation, the restrictions apply to all our centres nationwide.

Must test-takers apply for a refund or can one leave the application until the British Council resume activities.

Due to the current uncertainty caused by the novel COVID-19 outbreak, we have provided the option for either a transfer or refund. Kindly send an email to us at IELTS-Uganda@britishcouncil.or.ug with your preferred option.

I just received an email notice for the cancellation of my test tomorrow. Please, what options are available for the transfer? Can I know the earliest date I can pick?

Given the current restrictions imposed by government as a precautionary measure against the spread of COVID-19, it is very difficult at this point to provide you with information on the next available test dates. Please complete the transfer form and we will schedule you as soon as we can and advise accordingly.

In the meantime, please access this suite of IELTS online resources to assist you with your preparation.

I have sent an email for transfer but no response yet.

Hello, thank you for your message. Due to the large volume of emails we are currently receiving and processing, kindly give us up to 72 hours to respond to you. If you did not receive a response after 72 hours, please put a call through at +256 312560800

Does the speaking test we did on Thursday 19 still stand and will it be used at the next transfer date one selects?

If you had your speaking test already, it is valid and will be used. You’ll only need to transfer your writing, reading and listening based on the new available dates below.

In preparation of the Reading, Listening and Writing tests, please use our online resources located here to prepare.

Since I made payment over two weeks ago, the status of my test date is still showing: "Awaiting Approval". I sent an email and I’m yet to get a reply.

Will there be a delay in release and dispatch of results

We are currently working to ensure there are no delays in the release of results online or in dispatch of the results. However, we’ll update all test-takers on the status of their results via email communication, if you do not receive a communication, kindly contact us via IELTS-Uganda@britishcouncil.or.ug

Will results be dispatched to test-takers who took their tests in location where the British Council offices are located?

Because our offices are temporarily closed due to the directives from the Ugandan government, we’ll be dispatching all TRFs to the addresses entered by the test-takers. If you have not received your TRF within 14 days, please contact us via email.

In the meantime, you can check your results online by visiting the test taker portal

Can we still apply for EOR at this time and how can I proceed?

To process an EOR, kindly download and complete the form  and submit your request online via IELTS-Uganda@britishcouncil.or.ug

Your result will normally be available in 2 to 28 days, depending on several factors including the number of sections requested for a remark. If you have not received a response after 28 days, please contact us.

You can request for a re-marking no later than six weeks after the test date, regardless of whether you have taken computer-delivered or paper-based IELTS.
