Exam registration process for Private Candidates 

Please note the October / November 2020 Cambridge registration process for Private Candidates will only be done online. 

Before registering, kindly refer to the Guide to Making Entries to confirm subjects available to private candidates.

Please follow the steps below in order to register:

  • Select the registration link for Cambridge Oct / Nov 2020 Registration
  • Select the registration link for EDEXCEL Oct / Nov 2020 Registration 
  • Carefully read through the guidance notes before you register.
  • Click on the “Register Here” tab at the bottom of the Guidance Notes page. You will be taken to the Registration Mode page.
  • Select the appropriate registration mode to indicate who you are registering the exams for.
  • Fill in and confirm your email address. Click “Proceed”
  • Complete your contact details. Please note if you do not complete all required fields this will cause a delay in processing your registration. “Click Proceed”
  • Tick the box to confirm you have read and understood the Privacy Terms and Conditions. Click “Proceed”
  • Fill in your personal details in the relevant fields. Click “Proceed”
  • Select all the subjects you wish to register for by clicking a small box to the left of the subject you want to register. The subject fee is shown next to the subject. Click “Proceed”
  • Complete the Disability requirements & Child Protection section. If you are registering for a student above the age of 18 years, select “No” in the drop-down menu below and click “Proceed”. If you are registering subjects for a student under the age of 18 years, select “Yes” and complete the information below. Click “Proceed”
  • Fill in the Application Details section. If you are registering for more than one candidate, click “Add another attendee” and repeat all the processes mentioned above.
  • Click “Complete Registration”
  • You will receive a confirmation email with your selected options and payment instruction. Kindly check your junk/spam folders if you do not see the confirmation email in your inbox
  • When contacting the British Council, always quote your reference number in the email subject line.

Step 2: Payment instructions

You will find the fees for all exams listed on the registration form. Your application will not be processed until you have paid for your exams.

OPTION 1: Bank Transfer
You may make payment via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) or RTGS.
Use the bank details below and ensure that you quote your unique candidate reference number.

All bank transfer charges should be factored in when making the bank transfer and must be cleared before your application is confirmed.
Transfer fees will automatically be deducted from Payments made without the required transfer fees.

OPTION 2: Cash Deposit through the bank
• Payments should be made only at Stanbic Bank Branches Country wide. Stanbic Bank is Open Monday to Friday, 0830 to 1600 and Saturday 0900 to 1200.
• Cash deposit slips with the British Council logo should also be picked from Stanbic Bank.
• In the Reference No. or against the Payment Type Code boxes on the slip, fill in your unique candidate reference number.
• Fill in the rest of the deposit slip and pay to the cashier.

Each examination board has a normal registration stage for each exam session. You may still be able to register for exams after this date, but you will have to pay a penalty fee. You can find more information about late registration penalty fees on your exam registration form.
Keep your stamped bank deposit slip/proof of payment as you will need this to complete your exam registration.

Step 3: Submit your registration form

You have now filled in your registration form and paid for your exams.

The final step is to submit your application to the British Council.

To do this, please attach your proof of payment and send an email to SchoolExams@britishcouncil.or.ug 

Emails should have the Candidate Name and Registration Reference on Subject.

Step 4: Registration complete

You have successfully registered for school exams with the British Council.

You will receive your Statement of Entry and information about your examination venues approximately four weeks after registration.
