Below you will find instructions on how to register for your IGCSE/International GCSE and school exams if you are a private candidate.

You can register online. Late registration deadline 14 September 2024.
Edexcel (Pearson)
You can register online. Late registration deadline for IAL 15 September 2024 and IGCSE 6 October 2024.

Pay for your exam
You will find the fees for all exams listed on the registration system. Your application will not be processed until you have paid for your exams in full.
Similarly, you will not be allowed to attend an exam if you have paid but have not completed the application and submitted this along with all required documents to the British Council for confirmation of your registration.
There are two ways you can pay:
Pay Online
We accept Visa and Mastercard credit and Debit cards only for payment. You will be directed to a secure payment page.
Please note that you should only proceed to the payment page once you are ready to make a payment and you have your card information ready. There is a window of 15 minutes for you to process your payment and the system will not allow you to return to the payment page after this window. Should you exceed the window period for payment processing, please follow the steps below;
- Log into your account?
- Clear your cart and re-select subjects
- Once subjects selected, check that all is in order
- Have your card information ready
- Proceed to register and pay button now once you have your card information ready
If you face challenges please contact your local British Council office
Once you have made the payment, please submit the proof of payment and a copy of your identification document to Exams@britishcouncil.or.ug. You must include your Registration Reference Number in all communications.

Pay offline
You can pay by cash deposit or bank transfer in UGX only using account details below. Kindly note that the term "Bank transfer" used in this registration process as a payment option refers to both 'Bank-to-Bank' transfers and cash deposit into our British Council account.

Completing the British Council bank Deposit Slip
Use the unique system generated reference number provided during your registration to make payment to the bank. Failure to quote your unique reference number on the bank deposit slip or as your transfer reference number may delay your application process. No payment will be accepted without this information.
We have 2 different deposit slips available in the bank, and depending on which one you get, fill in your unique candidate reference number as illustrated below:

Once you have made the payment, please submit the proof of payment (bank transfer or deposit slip) and a copy of your identity document to Exams@britishcouncil.or.ug. You must include your Registration Reference Number in all communications.
Payment in full must be received by the registration deadline.
Late registration - penalty fees
There is a normal registration period for each exam session. You may still be able to register for exams after this date, but you will have to pay a penalty fee. You can find more information about late registration penalty fees from your British Council office.
Your registration is now complete
You have successfully registered for your exam with the British Council. You will receive your Statement of Entry and information about your examination venues approximately three weeks before your exams.
